It’s always a pleasure to design and build a garden for a repeat client. This family approached us back in 2021, six years after we had delivered our first garden for them. They were in the midst of planning a knockdown rebuild and wanted to commence the landscape design process to ensure their new home would be seamless both inside and out.

A lawn for grandchildren and pets was a must for the rear of the property, with a small setback of 6.6m and a slope of just over 1.2m. A firepit area with seating was another part of the brief, and so our design required a clever arrangement of retaining walls and steps to make the space look and feel cohesive.

A plant palette featuring a blend of natives and exotics softens and offset the modern architecture, designed by Mornington Peninsula-based custom home builder Alternate Vision. Organic bluestone steppers, natural stone boulders and corten steel complete the picture. Smart Landscapes is proud to maintain this beloved garden on an ongoing basis for our clients.
